As I've said before, I've got about a million clients who are expecting ... and all around the holidays! I'm so excited. I can't tell you how much I love tiny, new babies.
Here are some tips to help you prepare for your newbie photos:
- Have the session in the first 9 days. I know it's crazy when you bring the baby home from the hospital. I've been there. But in the baby's first days it's easiest to get her to sleep and curl up in the most wonderful newbie poses. When the baby's older, she's awake more. Which can be tricky because they can make some crazy faces!!! and they're just not that tiny, newbie anymore.
- Plan on a longer session. Nursing, rocking, sleeping ... quick take a few photos! Nursing again ... this is how it goes. It's a LONG session. Usually 1 1/2 to 2 hours. It's best to have the family there for the first bit, then just mom, baby and me for the rest.
- Buy some cool blankets and hats. I love funky blankets and handmade, knit hats. That's all we need. A newbie doesn't really need any clothes for the shoot.
