detour

I took a little detour on my way to NYC. Here's how it went ... I hopped on a plane in Minneapolis, flew into Newark, rented a car, drove an our through traffic to Spring Lake and ... made it there within 5 minutes of my shoot time!

So happy to see this family. Chi (the mom) has a calming nature and the kids were revved up and ready to run and laugh. It's not often that I get to shoot on the Jersey Shore (ok, well never) so I was in heaven. I'm in *love* with this session!

miss emma the dancer

I've had this vision for a while now, a dancer leaping through traffic. A couple weeks ago the stars aligned and Emma and her mom met me for this shoot.

It was a little hectic. Partly because I was scouting locations minutes before the shoot and also ... shooting in traffic isn't easy, you know. But Emma was tireless. Three locations and about twenty leaps later we got these photos. 

She's impressive, isn't she?

Thanks so much for the big response to my first ever holiday mini-sessions. I'll get back to everyone this week with details!

rising star

Last week (or was it the week before?) I got a frantic call from Kim. Her son had just been cast in Billy Elliot, they were moving to NYC the NEXT DAY to start rehearsals and they needed a head shot TODAY! How could I turn that down?

I've got to say ... it's darn easy to shoot with actors and dancers. And Zach was great. These are just a couple of my favorites from his session. 

Break a leg, Zach. Who knew a boy from Woodbury Dance could be a star in NYC? We're routing for you!
